Plants are the most familiar triggers in nature
Among all trypophobia triggers, the plant category is the most familiar and the hardest to escape. The produce aisle, the park floor, a roadside flower — everyday life is dotted with plants covered in holes and tightly packed seeds.
- Lotus seed pod (receptacle): holes packed with seeds — the symbol of trypophobia.
- Pinecones and sunflower seeds: regular grains arranged in spirals.
- Dragon fruit and strawberry cross-sections: countless seeds scattered through the flesh.
- Aloe and succulent cross-sections, dandelion fluff: dense textures of grains and holes.
Although these are harmless plants, their regular, high-density patterns are thought to make the brain misfire a "this might be dangerous" signal, producing that shiver of unease.
How many levels can you handle?
ZOWARU specimens are graded from Level 1 (mild) to Level 4 (advanced). Look at the specimens below, starting from the top level and working down. The point where you think "I can't take any more" is your limit for the plant category.
Put a number on your "shiver level"
A single image won't tell you your true tolerance. Our free trypophobia test measures your "shiver level" as a percentage for the plant category and six other categories, and identifies your type. You can share the result on social media, too. Are you strong against plants, or weak? Find out now.
